The Puzelat brothers are known for their high level of drinkability wines... La Guerrerie, La Butte, or La Gravotte represent the essence of an hedonistic wine consumption in the Loire Valley red wines... La Guerrerie 2010 displays a clear, bright, purple color, with medium concentration, medium viscosity, no variation between rim and core of the wine, no evidence of gas, sediments, or particles. The nose of this clean and moderately intense wine issued from a blend of Malbec (named Cot in the Loire region) and Gamay grapes exhibits floral and red berry-scented aromas, combined with minerals, cracked black pepper, leathery and barnyardy notes. Slightly earthy and chalky, this wine suggests a very fine and completely integrated oak aging (no new oak). Dry, medium bodied, with flavors reminiscent of the nose, the palate adds multi-layers of blueberries, brambleberries, myrtle, stones, and chalk. Medium acid, medium - alcohol, medium tannin, medium finish, medium complexity. A fun, easy drinking wine, best decanted 20 minutes before serving at a temperature betwen 16 and 18 degrees C.
Last tasted August 2012.
