CHATEAU LA LAGUNE——The Building

What is most striking is the rigour, unity, purity and elegance of Chateau La Lagune. This historical monument was built in 1730.

The buildings surrounds two courtyards : the main rectangular courtyard bordered by the chartreuse and two wings and the wine courtyard (re-known by winegrowers for sometime now as the heart of Caroline!) bordered by the old vat room and cellar. The buildings are set in spacious grounds

with magnolias and mimosas.

The renovation of the chartreuse was undertaken by two well known decorators.  Their mission was to create a real residence to receive and welcome friends and customers of La Lagune in a comfortable, refined setting.

They imagine and recreated a real decor, richly furnished, elegant and very ? grande bourgeoisie bordelaise ? by adding references, allusions, a twist, a touch of humor and exoticism that is typical of their work.

6 bedrooms for guests and the 3 grand bedrooms are:

ü The Chinese room has a bed flanked by two small pagodas which house the  ? conveniences ?,

ü The daisy room has an ensuite bathroom reminiscent of a parade tent.

ü The grand Louis XVI bedroom is completely regal thanks to a four-poster bed with green-striped taffeta curtains and walls covered in linen with a flower print pattern.
